Projects
Henry Cares is currently working on the following projects:
Restoring Homes
Henry Cares is working to restore homes that have been abandoned and fallen into disrepair do to employment and economic changes within the county.
If a home is found to be in such condition that restoration is not feasibly possible Henry Cares will look at demolition to create prime real estate for new development.
This will remove the visual blight that these atrophying homes have created in their neighborhoods. We accept that we can not restore anywhere near the many that require restoration. However, we will tackle those we can one-by-one motivated by our belief that each one that can be restored will improve the communities in Henry County.

Yesteryear Car & Driver Museum
Henry Cares is exploring the merits and means to create a museum featuring the rich history of Henry County’s relationship fast cars and their drivers.
From the creation of the first NASCAR racetrack—Martinsville Speedway—the bootleggers whose agile cars, and daring drivers keep the police one their toes.
We want to exlore this intersection of speed, cars, moonshine and innovation that grew here in Henry County.

Community Use of the Former Bassett Country Club
Henry Cares is trying to undertake negotiations with Lester Corporation and Henry County to trade the former Bassett Country Club Golf course with the county-owned and maintained landfill.
Lester Corporation has leased the former Bassett Country Club to a tenet for the purpose of a solar farm enterprise. This will result in 35-acres being covered with solar panels for 40 years ill requiring the removal of visually appealing, irrigated open spaces and numerous venerable trees.
If Lester Corporation would accept the trade, then not only would it sustain its century-plus respect & support of Henry County, but it would provide their tenant with 50-acres of county maintained land that is already devoid of trees, ready for solar panel placement & not visible to the public.
